This week, AVweb’s news roundup found reports on a new addition for a charter company, a GA engine and avionics company heading to an AOPA fly-in, a new location for an aviation academy and an aviation social media collaboration project raising money for charity. Business aviation services company Desert Jet has added a second Cessna Citation Bravo to its charter fleet. The aircraft is based at the company’s headquarters at the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport (TRM) in Palm Springs, California.

Air Plains Services, a Kansas-based company that performs general aviation engine and avionics upgrades, has announced plans to exhibit a Cessna 180 outfitted with one of its 300-HP XP engines at the AOPA Fly-In in Tullahoma, Tennessee. The fly-in is scheduled to take place Sept. 13 and 14. VT Aviation Academy of America will be opening a new location at Texas’ West Houston Airport (IWS) at the beginning of October. The facilities will include a 15,000-square-foot hangar and 2000 square feet of classroom and administrative space.

Nineteen YouTube and Instagram pilots have partnered for a social media collaboration project aimed at raising money for the Hershel “Woody” Williams Medal of Honor Foundation and flyGIRL charities. The group is a holding public eBay auction of four autographed posters from Aug. 9 through Aug. 19. Participants include Swayne Martin, Matt Guthmiller, Captain Joe, Steveo1kinevo, Baron Pilot and Martin Pauly.
