This week, AVweb’s news roundup found reports on upcoming battery STC kits for helicopters, advanced satellite-derived radar technology from a weather solutions provider and the opening of a new office for an aviation insurance agency. True Blue Power’s main ship batteries have been selected by Airwolf Aerospace for a series of new lithium-ion battery Supplemental Type Certification (STC) kits. The STC kits are expected to be available for 18 turbine helicopter models beginning in 2020.

Also this week, weather solutions provider Baron has announced its satellite-derived radar technology. According to the company, it added satellite-derived radar capabilities to its suite of critical weather intelligence solutions in order to “expand coverage beyond normal radar range and deliver more accurate forecasts of major weather events.”

Finally, Schrager Hampson Aviation Insurance Agency has opened a new office at the Hampton Airfield Suites in North Hampton, New Hampshire. The company, which specializes in aviation insurance, is headquartered at Laurence G. Hanscom Field in Bedford, Massachusetts. It was founded in 1989.
