Piaggio Model P-180

This proposed Airworthiness Directive would require operators of the Piaggio P-180 to determine whether firewall shutoff or crossfeed valves with a serial number in a certain range are installed, and would require replacement of any valve that has a serial number within this range. The proposed AD would allow the pilot to check the logbook and would not require additional action if the check showed that one of these valves was definitely not installed. This proposed AD is the result of mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by the airworthiness authority for Italy. The actions specified by this proposed AD are intended to prevent a faulty firewall shutoff or crossfeed valve from developing cracks and leaking fuel, which could result in an engine fire. The FAA must receive any comments on this proposed rule on or before December 16, 2002.

Gulfstream 200 And LP Model Galaxy

This amendment adopts a new AD that is applicable to certain Gulfstream Aerospace LP Model Galaxy and Gulfstream 200 airplanes. This action requires a one-time inspection for evidence of damage to the forward engine cross-spar assembly, and repair if necessary. Such damage could result in reduced structural integrity of the assembly. This rule becomes effective November 29, 2002.
