Fifteen people died when a Boeing 707 cargo plane overran the runway in bad weather at Fath Airport in Karaj, near Tehran, went through a perimeter fence and buried its nose in a house. Only a flight engineer survived. No one on the ground was injured. The old airliner shed most of its parts as it barreled through the neighborhood and stopped in the front foyer of a house. The post-crash fire damaged the house extensively.

Iran state TV reported the aircraft was Iranian owned and all on board were Iranians. Fath Airport is owned by the elite Revolutionary Guards and is about 25 miles from Tehran. The 707 was carrying a load of meat from the Kyrgyzstan capital of Bishek. The flight data recorder has been recovered.
