This year’s edition of EAA AirVenture returns to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, in just over a week, promising a diverse and unique experience celebrating everything that flies, from hot-air balloons to classic warbirds to spaceships. A first at the show this year will be the appearance of the Blue Origin commercial space company, with its New Shepard rocket and a 1:1 mockup of its astronaut crew capsule. Also returning to the show in force, after several years’ absence, will be Scaled Composites, flying the Proteus aircraft and taking over a forum building for the whole week, offering 40 sessions on topics from fabrication to maintenance to test-flying your homebuilt.

Fans of warbirds will have plenty to see, with a highlight the first public flight of Doc and Fifi, marking the first time two B-29s have taken to the sky together in decades. The Blue Angels will perform, and a number of events will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo program. The show runs Monday, July 24, to Sunday, July 30. AVweb staff will be on site filing daily updates to your inbox, plus videos, podcasts and social media updates.
