Embraer reports that during the first quarter of 2014 it delivered 14 jets to the commercial aviation market and 20 to the business aviation market, for a total of 34 aircraft, compared to 29 aircraft delivered in the same period of 2013. On March 31, 2014, the firm order backlog totaled $19.2 billion, an increase of $1 billion over Dec. 31, 2013. The backlog for the first quarter of 2014 includes a firm order for 50 E-Jets E2 from Air Costa, an Indian airline.

The E2 series is a more fuel-efficient version of Embraers E-Jet line of airliners. They are expected to have 70 to 130 seats and a range of up to 2200 miles. The E2 line was announced at the 2013 Paris Air Show with deliveries to begin in 2018. Embraer has said that the aircraft will use Pratt and Whitney geared turbofan engines and the avionics package will be the Honeywell Primus Epic 2.
