GA Honors Veterans, Every Day

0

Since the Wright brothers first began building airplanes over 100 years ago, aviation and warfare have been intimately entwined. The first airplane designed for military use flew in 1908, and in the years since, thousands of aviators have launched their careers in military aircraft. Thousands more, in the U.S. and around the world, lost their lives in aerial combat. All of those military pilots, from the past and present, and all of those who support them on the ground, are honored on Veterans Day. Folks in general aviation remember these veterans every day, in myriad museums found around the country, at airshows that showcase the contributions they have made, and in projects such as Honor Flight, which flies World War II veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorial that has been erected there for them. If you know a pilot, aircraft mechanic, or anyone who has spent time in the military, today is the day to thank him or her for their willingness to serve.
