NBAA Offers eAPIS Service

NBAA members can now subscribe to a service that streamlines the electronic Advance Passenger Information System (eAPIS) and allows more convenient flexibility when plans suddenly change. The system was developed in partnership with ARINC Direct Business Aviation Solutions and has been approved by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Since last May, all international flights to and from the U.S. must be preceded by an electronically filed APIS report that details passenger information. NBAA says its system offers some improvements over the CBP-hosted system that are worth the $25 charge for each international flight.

Perhaps the biggest timesaver is the ability to store crew and other personnel information on ARINC’s secure server rather than having to input it on the CPB page every time. Also, if the screen suddenly goes blank, ARINC operates a 24-hour help center. Confirmations can be distributed to an address list and the system also automatically compensates for time zones and looks up airport identifiers.
