The Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum, in Denver, plans to open a new campus this summer at Centennial Airport, called Exploration of Flight. The 18,000-square-foot Boeing Blue Sky Gallery will be adjacent to an active flight ramp, giving visitors a chance to experience what real aviation is all about , while exploring interactive exhibits, including a flight simulator. Construction is now underway, with steel framing going up to support the galleries. Museum officials hope the attraction will inspire visitors of all ages to pursue careers in aviation. Aerospace supports more than 18,000 jobs in Colorado, according to the Denver Post.

Also, in Wichita, Kansas, the Exploration Place museum recently opened an all-new aviation exhibit that focuses on what happens behind the scenes in Wichita’s aircraft manufacturing plants. The “Design, Build, Fly” gallery occupies 5,100 square feet, and provides challenging, interactive exhibits for visitors of all ages. Visitors can test landing gear, plot a flight path using GPS, control a drone, design an airplane seat and more. Lead donors to the project include NASA, Textron, Bombardier and Learjet.
