Sun ‘n Fun Is Ready To Launch

Last week’s soaking rains in Florida have given way to sunshine and a forecast almost too-good-to-be-true — mid 80s, light winds, low humidity, scattered clouds, expected all week long for Lakeland during Sun ‘n Fun. A weekend shutdown of the I-4 snarled traffic for early arrivals, but the lanes are scheduled to re-open for Monday. Fly-in pilots already have started to arrive, and the campgrounds are up and running.

The aviation industry hasn’t exactly come roaring back yet from its economic malaise, but there are signs of life expected at the show this week. AVweb’s news team will be catching up with the folks at Mooney, Epic, Diamond, and Eclipse, and will find out how things are going with the union of Cessna and Beechcraft under the Textron banner. Sun ‘n Fun also picked up on a good idea from last year’s AirVenture and will host a job fair at the show, connecting job seekers and college students with careers in aviation. The LSA folks have a major presence at the new Paradise City, and we expect updates on lots of LSA aircraft was well as discussions about some recentissuesin their part of aviation. The Blue Angels will be here, along with the night airshow, and plenty more to come every day, plus there are sure to be a few surprises. AVweb will be sending daily reports all week, socheck our website andwatch your inbox for the news.
