Italian aircraft maker Tecnam announced this week its single-engine P2010 is nearing FAA certification. The four-place, high-wing airplane first flew in 2012 and received its European certification in September 2014. According to the company, it’s the first four-place single-engine with the high-wing configuration to be certified in recent decades. More than 25 of the airplanes have been delivered in Europe so far. Now that it’s in production, Tecnam U.S. plans to begin deliveries as soon as FAA certification is achieved later this year.
The P2010, priced at $345,000, is constructed with a carbon fiber fuselage with metal wings and components. It will feature Garmin G1000 avionics and a Lycoming IO-360 M1A engine. An amendment to the EASA certificate also resulted in adding an MT constant-speed propeller, which will also be on the U.S. version.
