uAvionix has announced a manufacturer’s rebate on some of its ADS-B products for light sport and experimental aircraft. “The FAA’s ADS-B rebate program excludes non-certified products, yet this is often the most affordable solution for experimental and LSA aircraft owners,” said uAvionix CEO Paul Beard. “We feel a kinship with the experimental aircraft owners as this is where we got our start with our GA products. This community has embraced uAvionix and we don’t think they should be left out of all of the rebate fun.” The FAA program offerring $500 rebates for qualified ADS-B installations was restarted earlier this month.

uAvionix is offering a $100 rebate on the company’s echoUAT+WAAS GPS bundles and a $150 rebate on the tailBeacon EXP. The tailBeacon EXP retails at $1,649 and echoUAT bundles sell for between $1,399 and $1,449. To qualify for a rebate, owners must submit a passing FAA Public ADS-B Performance Report (PAPR) along with proof of purchase and installation photos by Jan. 31, 2019. The rebates are being offered for products purchased between Sept. 15, 2018 and Nov. 15, 2018. echoUAT and tailBeacon meet requirements for the 2020 ADS-B mandate.

As previously reported by AVweb, the echoUAT is one of the products named in a lawsuit filed against uAvionix by Garmin last June. The suit alleges that uAvionix used patented Garmin ADS-B technology in some of its products without permission. After the filing, uAvionix issued a statement saying that it had not infringed on Garmin’s patent and would continue to ship its products. Both companies have said they cannot comment further on the proceedings.
