Each week, we go through dozens (and sometimes hundreds) of reader-submitted photos and pick the very best to share with you on Thursday mornings. The top photos are featured on AVweb‘s home page, and one photo that stands above the others is awarded an AVweb baseball cap as our “Picture of the Week.” Want to see your photo on AVweb.com? Click here to submit it to our weekly contest.

*** THIS WEEK’S WINNERS ***

The AOPA Summit has been keeping us busy this week, so we’re only just now finishing up our weekly survey of the “POTW” submission box. While submissions dropped off a tad this week (back to the normal volume we’d expect for this time of year), the quality hasn’t taken any sort of dip at all.

Waiting …

Josh Cawthra of Seattle, Washington recently spent some time on assignment in Anchorage. A man after our own heart, Josh spent his days off scouting Lake Hood and other natural wonders for photo opportunities – and came across this Cessna “enjoying the lovely fall morning” in a secluded spot on the lake.

“One Day He’ll Understand How Cool This Really Is …”

Rob Gontarek of Plano, Texas took his four-year-old son up in the ever-photogenic Aluminum Overcast at Oshkosh and snapped this incredible photo. It’s a priceless view that any of us would enjoy, and (as Rob so knowingly put it) “one day he’ll understand how cool this really is.”

Check Ride Time

Rebecca Wells of Locust Grove writes, “I turned around from taking a study break to find my cat Boston intently viewing the CRJ200 poster.” Why do we have a sneaking suspicion that Boston will be in ground school pretty soon … ?

Practice Makes Perfect

Blake Mathis of Madison, Alabama satisfies our appetite for aerobatics with a shot snapped while “out for a day of fun and games with a Citabria and Super Decathlon.”

All in a day’s work, eh, Blake? (One of these days we’re going to trick you guys into entering some kind of “trade places with the AVweb staff” contest, and you can sit here looking at pictures all day while we go out and have cool adventures with a camera!)

Frozen in Time

Brett Grooms of Goose Creek, South Carolina caps off this week’s edition of “POTW” with a burst of adrenaline that should keep us all on the edges of our seats until next week.

Want more? You’ll find bonus pictures at the slideshow on AVweb‘s home page. Head over there and have a look.

Click here to submit your own photos to “POTW.”

A quick note for submitters: If you’ve got several photos that you feel are “POTW” material, your best bet is to submit them one-a-week! That gives your photos a greater chance of seeing print on AVweb, and it makes the selection process a little easier on us, too. 😉

A Reminder About Copyrights:
Please take a moment to consider the source of your image before submitting to our “Picture of the Week” contest. If you did not take the photo yourself, ask yourself if you are indeed authorized to release publication rights to AVweb. If you’re uncertain, consult the POTW Rules or or send us an e-mail.
