Each week, we go through dozens (and sometimes hundreds) of reader-submitted photos and pick the very best to share with you on Thursday mornings. The top photos are featured on AVweb‘s home page, and one photo that stands above the others is awarded an AVweb baseball cap as our “Picture of the Week.” Want to see your photo on AVweb.com? Click here to submit it to our weekly contest.

Coming Back from the Field

We’ve had an uptick in military photos lately (with a strong emphasis on fighter jets), but Craig Stephens of Savannah, Georgia bring us a chopper serving its tour of duty in Korea.

"We May Be Waiting a While … "

Eugene Mace of Enterprise, Alabama dropped this photo in our submission box a couple of weeks back – but it’s probably never been as appropriate as it is today.

Close Enough to Wave To

Michael H. Ossipov of Tucson, Arizona "was on a road near the approach end of Runway 11 at KTUS when these guys were practicing" – and, fortunately for us, had his camera handy!

Four Years Old and Ready to Solo

Bella Hlavac mugs for the camera of her mom, Christina Hlavac of Ramona, California. (Dave Leedom built that sharp-looking aircraft, which is currently owned by Kyle Leedom.)

EDIT:
That’s Bella Hlavac and her mom, from Ramona, California – not the other way around! Our apologies for the earlier typographical error!

Dawn Display

Rob Neil of Porirua, Wellington (New Zealand) flies us out this week. Rob says he got up at the crack of dawn "deliberately to catch the early light and get some interesting shots." We’d say it was worth it.

Look for more reader-submitted photos in the slideshow on AVweb‘s home page.

Click here to submit your own photos to “POTW.”

A quick note for submitters: If you’ve got several photos that you feel are “POTW” material, your best bet is to submit them one-a-week! That gives your photos a greater chance of seeing print on AVweb, and it makes the selection process a little easier on us, too. 😉

A Reminder About Copyrights:
Please take a moment to consider the source of your image before submitting to our “Picture of the Week” contest. If you did not take the photo yourself, ask yourself if you are indeed authorized to release publication rights to AVweb. If you’re uncertain, consult the POTW Rules or or send us an e-mail.
