The Weekender: Cookouts, Big Toys and PilotPalooza
Our weekly review of aviation events on SocialFlight uncovered everything from a fly-in cookout through a Big Toy Day to a PilotPalooza coming up this weekend. Middlebury State Airport, Vermont, is hosting a cookout fly-in Saturday, Aug. 23, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Organizers report that burgers, hot dogs and more food will be served to anyone who flies in—stop by and enjoy the beautiful summer weather at Middlebury. The Evanston, Wyoming Airport is throwing its annual airshow and fly-in on Saturday the 23rd from 7:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. There will be a free breakfast or lunch for fly-in pilots and passengers, aerobatic demonstrations, skydiving and RC aircraft demonstrations. Helicopter rides will be offered and avgas is going to be on sale at $5.49 per gallon. The airport will be closed for the airshow from 10:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.
The Second Annual Iowa PilotPalooza is taking place on Saturday, Aug. 23 at the Boone, Iowa Airport from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. An event by pilots, for pilots—a chance to socialize, look over aircraft for sale and homebuilt projects, and attend pilot forums. AVweb's own Rick Durden will be speaking about legal issues for pilots. There will be food available for purchase and space for overnight camping. The 2014 Big Toy Day and Fly-In at the Lexington, North Carolina Airport is happening on Saturday the 23rd from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The hosts promise you a chance to "get up close and personal" with a variety of specialty vehicles and large equipment such as fire trucks, boats, race cars and much more.
