The Assistant Chief Pilot instills, promotes, and maintains the company culture allowing for open and honest communication to ensure that staff feel safe and appreciated. The Assistant Chief Pilot will assist in daily flight operations, flying duties, training, and records. The right candidate will be willing to learn and works well in a team environment. Candidates must also be open to change and adjustment as the company grows and evolves. The Assistant Chief Pilot will become type rated in the aircraft (if type rating is not already obtained), learn the ins and outs of the company, with the anticipation that they will become the Chief Pilot when ready.


The Assistant Chief Pilot must possess an understanding of FAA regulations, operations specifications, and flight manuals. The Assistant Chief Pilot reports directly to the Chief Pilot.


Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Maintaining proper pilot staffing levels and assist the Chief Pilot in the hiring and promoting of pilots; recruitment processing including compliance with provisions of the Pilot Records Improvement Act and other regulations as applicable
  • Maintain all records as required as they relate to air crew and flight operations
  • Responsible for assisting the Chief Pilot in the development and currency of the Air Crew Training Programs
  • Responsible for maintaining all required Manuals, Supplements, aircraft Check Lists, documents and navigation charts assigned to the Operations Office and those assigned to each aircraft
  • Responsible for maintaining current Minimum Equipment Lists for each Air Carrier aircraft
  • Assists with the distribution and posting of all information or memoranda relative to any changes affecting Company policy, route information, NAVAIDS, NOTAMS and other pertinent information to assure safe and secure flight operations
  • Assures pilots are current, appropriately qualified, and properly rested prior to scheduling to a flight assignment
  • Assists in the coordination of all training and checking requirements with Contract Training Centers as necessary, and with the assigned FAA POI
  • Assures that day-to-day flight operations activities are conducted in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Coordinates all in-house training with Instructors and Check Airmen
  • Designates sufficient check pilots to ensure all flight crew conform to standard procedures as outlined in FAA regulations and Company policies, and to assure that all pilots receive checks as required by applicable FAA regulations and policy
