Hornet Aircraft Heaters Available at Aircraft Spruce
Hornet Aircraft Heaters represent the safest and most reliable aircraft engine pre-heaters and cabin heaters ever developed. These heaters are designed to safely heat your engine in environments that are considered to be dangerous locations. The Hornet Heater line uses the most advanced, self-temperature-regulating, semi-conducting material developed. Perhaps the most important feature of the twin heating system is that the possibility of both heaters failing simultaneously is almost non-existent, and one heating circuit will provide enough heat to prevent engine damage. A computer programmer has published online a free set of instructions that allow a simple toy Parrot drone to become a "skyjacker." Samy Kamkar said the SkyJack drone is "engineered to autonomously seek out, hack and wirelessly take over other drones within wifi distance, creating an army of zombie drones under your control." Kamkar, who was described by GizMag as a "hacker-turned-legit security researcher," posted the instructions in his blog shortly after Amazon announced its drone-delivery plans. Read More

In a factory above the Arctic Circle, workers this week are hard at work -- not making toys, but finishing up the newest updated version of the Atol Amphibian, a Finnish design that has been flying since the 1990s as a homebuilt. "We have redesigned and modernized it totally, by using the newest technology and materials to meet today's markets and demands," company co-founder Anssi Rekula told AVweb this week. The company plans to offer the airplane as an LSA in Europe and the U.S. "The new Atol is almost ready for its maiden flight," Rekula said. Read More

Few aviation operations are as tricky and dangerous as helicopter flights to and from oil rigs, but recently Sikorsky introduced commercial use of an automated approach system that reduces pilot workload by up to 60 percent. The new "Rig Approach" system was in development for five years. Sikorsky worked with PHI, which operates S-92 and S-76 helicopters to oil rigs and platforms in the Gulf of Mexico, to develop and test the technology. "Rig Approach gets all of its data from the satellite constellation; there is no land-based equipment involved," PHI operations director Pat Attaway told the Miami Herald. "The system can fly the helicopter until it's half a mile away from the rig and 200 feet above the water." Read More
