The Feb. 20, 2014 NTSB investigative hearing into the Aug. 14, 2013 crash of a UPS jet on approach to the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth (Alabama) Airport included evidence that the flight crew was fatigued and that the captain had said the schedules were killing him and he "couldn't keep this up." Documents and testimony indicated the crew made several errors on the approach, including continuing to descend below the minimum descent altitude into a layer of clouds according to the San Francisco Chronicle. A Beechcraft King Air B100 twin-engine turboprop crashed about 9 a.m. Wednesday morning while attempting to land at Pearland Regional Airport near Houston, Texas. The airplane burned on impact and was destroyed. The pilot was 39-year-old Joe Frank Lassiter III of Mountain Brook, Ala., according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. The pilot had made one attempt to land and was attempting a go-around when the crash occurred, according to the FAA. Read More

The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) today released the worldwide 2013 year-end aircraft billing and shipment numbers. GAMA Chairman Steve Taylor, President of Boeing Business Jets, reported that for the year, total worldwide general aviation airplane shipments rose 4.3 percent, from 2,164 shipments in 2012 to 2,256 shipments in 2013.
