Weekender: Fly With Mom To Breakfast

Massey Airport

This Sunday is Mother’s Day, so if you want to celebrate by taking your mom out for breakfast, EAA Chapter 486 is hosting an all-you-can eat pancake fest at the Oswego County Airport, in Fulton, N.Y. The event, one of hundreds across the country listed on the SocialFlight website, will also include Young Eagles flights, weather permitting. Another May event, Cinco de Mayo, gets a late celebration this Saturday at the Massey Aerodrome, in Massey, Md. This annual gathering attracts the local townsfolk and if the weather cooperates, a large contingent of flying machines, to enjoy the field’s 3,000-foot grass strip. All comers are invited to bring their best chili dish and/or hors d’ouevre item to share.

On Saturday, you’re invited to fly in to Champion Ranch, near Roswell, N.M., for a hearty breakfast including not just steak and eggs, but pork chops and biscuits too. No charge, but contributions accepted. Also on Saturday, the Fullerton Airport in southern California celebrates Airport Day 2014, an event designed to showcase the airport’s role in providing services to the city and county. Local police and fire agencies will host displays about their airport operations, and events will include helicopter and airline rides, static displays, exhibits, and activities for children and adults. More events, in your neighborhood and across the country, are updated daily on SocialFlight‘s free website and app.
