Pilot Workshop #1: Wake Turbulence

This week AVweb introduces free online training programs provided by PilotWorkshops.com. The first workshop features Bob Nardiello explaining the causes of wake turbulence and the characteristics of the vortices that are generated.

PilotWorkshops.com provides online pilot training and skill building delivered by leading aviation experts. Designed for the IFR and serious VFR pilot, the site provides a large assortment of online video and audio workshops. A free trial is available on their Web site.

About this Workshop

In this eight-minute workshop, Bob Nardiello will explain the causes of wake turbulence and the characteristics of the vortices that are generated. He will also describe the areas where we are most likely to encounter wake turbulence and the risks it poses to pilots. Finally, he will provide tips for dealing with an inadvertent encounter.
