Osprey Kicking Up a Good Mist
Osprey hover performance at CIAS (Canadian International Air Show) at the National Exhibition/Ontario Place. See the tech pointing his head out the door. Taken with Nikon D200, with a Nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 VR lens. Some tone and color correction applied to photo.

September 11 - Paine Field Sunset
We celebrated September 11 by flying out as a family for dinner. As we returned to Paine Field, the sky in the west glowed pink, and we caught these Boeing 747-8s awaiting delivery to their customers. They are parked on a closed runway. No changes to the photo at all. Taken with a PhD camera ("Push Here, Dummy").
PA-12 in Alaska

Gulfstream Sunset
A small wildfire to the west made for a beautiful sunset photo of this Gulfstream IV in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. I used a Canon 60D and color corrected the photo using Photoshop.

An F-16C Fighting Falcon at AirVenture 2011. This is a Wisconsin Air National Guard jet from the 176th Fighter Squadron at Truax Field Air National Guard Base in Madison, Wisconsin.
"What's Up There?"
Taken at Oshkosh 2010. C-5 left main landing gear. Took some time to figure out how those wheels fit in there. Only resizing to decrease the size.
Ed. Note: Thanks to the many eagle-eyed readers who took a moment to let us know that this is likely not a C-5 but a KC-135R - especially Scott, John Poelman, Cameron F., John Pelchat, Jim, and Jay Tolbert, who supplied positive IDs and great rundowns of the clues that jumped out at them. (What can we say? Our readers are smart cookies.)

Two Crescents, But No Moon!
The crescent of Leman Lake [Lake Geneva] in its whole extension, looking westward as seen at 9,000 feet from our glider. (The side of the cockpit also forms a crescent on the right side of the photo.) Photo taken with a Pentax Optio P80 camera at 1/250 sec; F 7.0, focal length 5 mm. The original file was just reduced under to 1 MB.

Patiently Waiting
I am a great appreciator of aviation, and while I love the warbirds, fast jets, etc., it's scenes like this from several weeks ago which remind me that not all our aircraft are pampered and still have to earn their keep, so to speak. No manipulations on the pic; it was just taken early morning, prior to start-up for the day. Pentax KX with a Tameron 14-24. Wide angle lens was utilized.
CAFE Green Flight Challenge
The "exploded" view of the Eco Eagle was an interesting contrast to Moffett's Blimp Hangar ("#1"), which is undergoing renovation (background).
