Air Astana Chooses CEFA FAS for Flight Safety

The number one goal of the renowned Kazakhstan’s airline is to implement the highest safety standards. Now it is using the premium software CEFA FAS. With more than 80 users, including numerous flag carriers, CEFA FAS is a proven tool to enhance flight safety. Animating flight data allows to understand better and quicker causes of flight incidents but also, for airlines’ safety departments, to better communicate to pilots and to the management.

In order to translate flight data into realistic animations including 3D views, cockpit instruments and the environment in the sky and on the ground, the flagship of Kazakhstani aviation chose the independent French company CEFA Aviation. "Being chosen by Kazakhstan's national air carrier, an airline which is growing and winning multiple awards, is a great recognition of our 19 years of expertise in flight data," says Dominique Mineo, CEO and founder of CEFA Aviation. "We are delighted that our software CEFA FAS helps Air Astana to achieve the highest safety standards."According to Gerhard Coetzee, Senior VP Corporate Safety Compliance: "CEFA FAS is an efficient tool optimizing dialogs around safety within our airline." Mikhail Batayev, Senior Manager Safety Compliance Flight Operations, and Arman Donsebayev, Manager Safety Performance Flight Operations, use CEFA FAS on a regular basis and underline that: "it is effective to demonstrate outcome of flight parameters as identified by flight data to crew, trainers and management alike to produce animations. Particularly multi close proximity events but even for taxi incursions and errors, while simultaneously follow the nav charts while replaying a flight, or check the METAR!"CEFA FAS will be used to recreate flights from the 32 aircraft, based on the raw data from the flight data recorders but also from the FDM (Flight Data Monitoring) System implemented by the airline. Air Astana's fleet, one of the youngest in the industry, consists of many different aircraft types, from Embraer 190 to Boeing 767, as well as Airbus A320neo and Airbus A321neo. CEFA Aviation's software shows the flights and the maneuvers of the pilots with all these different cockpit types in a very detailed visualization - even the hands of the pilots and the pedals are represented. The flagship operates 60+ destinations primarily in Asia, Eastern Europe, and Russia. Founded 16 years ago, the airline has won multiple awards, among others retaining the accolade of "Best Airline in Central Asia and India" in the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2018 for the seventh consecutive year. It has just received a Five Star Airline Rating in the Major Regional Airlines category at the APEX Awards 2018.
