Houston, TX - Experience the everyday life of astronauts, launch a rocket, serve as mission commander and discover how to grow plant species in space at the North American premiere of Astronaut, Space Center Houston's fall exhibit presented by the city of Webster, Oct. 1-Jan. 16.
The interactive exhibition, produced by Imagine Exhibitions and designed and produced by Scitech of Perth, Australia, takes guests through a space workshop full of hands-on science fun and nearly 30 activities to test their abilities for space exploration, just like a real astronaut. The immersive experience explores the physical and mental challenges for astronauts and immerses guests in what life is like outside of Earth's atmosphere.
"Visitors will experience astronaut training, climb into a simulated rocket launch and test rock samples," said William T. Harris, president and CEO of the science and space learning center. "From science experiments to physical and psychological tests, Astronaut explores the day-to-day activities alongside the stellar science conducted in space."
Guests will learn how the human body is affected by microgravity, examine their eyesight and perform strength tests like astronauts do during and after a space flight. Guests can launch a rocket and experience a simulated launch inside a capsule. A space lab takes guests inside astronaut living quarters and workspace, climb inside a space bed, choose space food, test space rocks and view the space toilet.
