The International Society for Aviation Photography has announced that its 13th annual ISAP Symposium will be held April 3-5 in Tampa, Florida. The event will coincide with the annual Sun ‘n Fun International Fly-In & Expo in nearby Lakeland, and the two organizations are partnering on special activities for Symposium attendees.

The Symposium is an information-filled three-day event, with seminars and presentations on Thursday and Saturday, and a field trip to Sun ‘n Fun on Friday. Among the many featured air show performers that day are the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels, who are returning after 2013’s sequester-induced hiatus. Also, the F-22 Raptor will take part in the U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight. As an added bonus, on Friday the event is marking the 100th anniversary of air combat, so plenty of warbirds are expected to be on hand. There will be many opportunities for photos, and ISAP is working with Sun ‘n Fun to obtain special access for symposium participants.

Speakers for this year’s Symposium include Photoshop gurus Pete Collins and Scott Kelby, and noted aviation photographers Stacy Pearsall, Keith Skelton, and Bill Ingalls. At the Saturday night closing banquet, acclaimed aviation photographer Russell Munson will receive the 2014 ISAP George Hall Lifetime Achievement Award. Munson will share his wealth of experience in his uniquely amusing and inspirational way.

Seminar participants who arrive early or stay in Central Florida after the Symposium will receive a free weekly wristband allowing access to Sun ‘n Fun. Attendees also will enjoy a one-year membership to KelbyOne’s online training courses, compliments of B&H Photo and KelbyOne. Access is provided to literally thousands of courses and videos covering Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, as well as photographic and lighting techniques.

The location for the Symposium is The DoubleTree Hotel by Hilton in Tampa. It is located just minutes from Tampa International Airport and offers free airport shuttle service.

Early registration for the Symposium is $325.00, including transportation on Friday to Sun ‘n Fun. After March 15, the cost is $425.00. Participation is open to members of ISAP; the membership fee is $75.00 per year. To register for ISAP XIII, or to become a member, visit the website (www.aviationphoto.org).

ISAP has negotiated a special room rate at the DoubleTree of $111 per night, single or double occupancy. To receive this rate, use this special link for registration: doubletree.hilton.com/en/dt/groups/personalized/T/TPATLDT-SAP-20140331/index.jhtml

One way to reduce costs is to consider sharing a room with a fellow ISAP member. A section in the member forum on the ISAP website has been set up to facilitate room sharing. Registered attendees also can send an email to [email protected], and ISAP will connect interested members. Attendees can also connect directly through the ISAP Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/ISAPorg. In addition to reducing costs, sharing a room is an excellent opportunity to meet new friends!

A pre-Symposium field trip/workshop is being planned for attendees who arrive early. Included is an admission wristband good for the entire week of Sun ‘n Fun, which runs April 1-6 and is a $150.00 value. The special Symposium room rate at the Doubletree is valid for the entire week, and the hotel is only about a 40-minute drive to the fly-in grounds.

The Symposium is always a great networking and learning opportunity for aviation photographers. And this year, it can be done while having fun in the sun. For additional information, visit the ISAP website (www.aviationphoto.org).
