Charlie Johnson Joins Colorado Aviation Hall of Fame

Charlie Johnson, President and COO of Aero Electric Aircraft Corp. (AEAC), was inducted into the Colorado Aviation Hall of Fame at a ceremony on Oct. 4.

DENVER, Colorado - Oct. 7, 2014 - Charlie Johnson, President and COO of Aero Electric Aircraft Corp. (AEAC), was inducted into the Colorado Aviation Hall of Fame at a ceremony on Oct. 4. Johnson, the former President of Cessna, is a well-known industry veteran and advocate of electric propulsion for General Aviation. He is a co-founder and director of AEAC, which is planning to offer the first U.S.-sponsored, practical, solar-electric airplane serving the aviation training market. "We very much appreciate the life-long advocacy and leadership that Charlie has brought to General Aviation, particularly his support of electric-powered flight," said George Bye, CEO of AEAC. "A true aviation pioneer, he is certainly deserving of this honor." AEAC unveiled the single-seat technology demonstrator for its next-generation solar-electric training aircraft and is performing initial R&D flight test operations at Centennial Airport near Denver. Flight tests will continue while the 2-seat prototype Sun Flyer is being assembled. Johnson joins over 200 Laureates who have been named to the Colorado Aviation Hall of Fame over the past 45 years, which is administered by the Colorado Aviation Historical Society.
