Continental Motors Group Announces Completed Acquisition of Southern Avionics and Communications
Continental Motors Group Ltd, (CMG) an AVIC International Holding Corporation (AVIC Intl’) company is pleased to announce that it has received approval from the US Government and has completed its acquisition of Southern Avionics and Communications, effective November 21, 2014.
Continental Motors Group Ltd, (CMG) an AVIC International Holding Corporation (AVIC Intl') company is pleased to announce that it has received approval from the US Government and has completed its acquisition of Southern Avionics and Communications, effective November 21, 2014. In the near term, CMG will continue to operate the avionics and aircraft interior business under the name Southern Avionics and Communications while the operations and employees are integrated with Continental Motors Services, Inc. (CMS).
Southern Avionics, a regional leader in avionics sales, installation and service since 1981, employs 14 full time people. Through the years, Southern Avionics has serviced aircraft ranging from very small personal aircraft up to large corporate jets. Its team has experience in maintaining, repairing and upgrading all major avionics products, both analog and digital. The company represents most major avionics manufacturers worldwide through distribution or representative agreements. Southern Avionics also performs upholstery repairs and upgrades.
Continental Motors Services, Inc., located in Fairhope, AL has been a primary source for general aviation services since 1996 and employs 26 full time people. CMS offers a variety of aviation services including overhaul/repair for Continental and Lycoming engines, cylinder overhaul, fuel sales, parts sales, and major aircraft repairs. "We are very happy that Southern Avionics is officially a part of the Continental Team" stated Rhett Ross, Vice President, AVIC International and Director, Continental Motors Group. "Now that the acquisition is complete, we look forward to expanding our MRO offerings and to explore opportunities to expand our service presence at the rapidly growing Mobile Downtown Airport located at Brookley Field," continued Ross.
Southern Avionics and Communications as a division of CMS will operate from its original base at the Brookley Aeroplex (KBFM) and expand to CMS's main facility at Fairhope Regional Airport (KCQF). In addition, CMS will now operate a maintenance extension at the Southern Avionics facility on Brookley Aeroplex.
