Denver, Colorado - Dale J. Egan, Associate General Counsel within Emerson Electric's mergers and acquisitions law group, has been named Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aero Electric Aircraft Corporation (AEAC). AEAC is developing the 2-seat solar-electric "Sun Flyer" aircraft serving the flight training and general aviation markets.
Previously, Egan, an experienced general aviation pilot, was Global General Counsel for American Appraisal, a financial services firm operating in 26 countries. He is a Director and Volunteer Pilot for the Woody Williams Medal of Honor Foundation where he has presented veteran initiatives at the White House. Egan also co-founded ValorCorps, a company dedicated to placing veterans in civilian technology positions after leaving military service. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Bye Aerospace, Inc., which launched AEAC and the Sun Flyer electric aircraft program in 2014. Egan has a bachelor's degree in corporate finance from the University of St. Thomas and a law degree from Marquette University, with a concentration in corporate and intellectual property law.
George Bye, Chairman and CEO of AEAC, said Egan's strategic insight and aviation-related legal expertise will support a variety of growth activities, including capital raising and business development. "I have asked Dale to chair an oversight committee that will steer the company into our next round of capital development," Bye said. "We are confident that Dale will play a key role in helping the company advance to the next level."
Egan said he was grateful to Bye for the opportunity and to former AEAC Vice Chairman and now AEAC Treasurer, Craig Fuller, for his leadership. "As I watched my nephew, Danny, this spring complete his private pilot solo on his 16th birthday after years of building and flying large electric RC airplanes, I am confident and excited about the market for the efficient and modern Sun Flyer platform," Egan said. "This airplane aligns with the modern expectations of today's students and with flight school economics. The industry-leading team George has assembled has the financial, marketplace and engineering discipline to bring this groundbreaking airplane into the mainstream training environment and beyond. I am proud to be part of the team."
The Sun Flyer aircraft is intended to be the first FAA-certified, U.S.-sponsored, practical, all-electric airplane serving the flight training and general aviation markets. The 2-seat proof of concept prototype for the Sun Flyer solar-electric flight trainer was unveiled to the public in May and is completing final integration, and will begin power-on tests at its home station at Centennial Airport near Denver. The prototype will be on display at Booth 66 at EAA AirVenture 2016.
