FltPlan.com named first and only authorized electronic flight planning service for Dominican Republic

The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) has named FltPlan.com the first and only authorized electronic flight plan provider for general aviation flights departing the Dominican Republic. This makes the Dominican Republic the first Caribbean nation to fully accept electronically-submitted flight plans for departing flights. The new filing system is currently in place at Las Americas (MDSD), Luperon (MDPP), and Cibao International (MDST) and will be fully implemented at the country’s five remaining airports by the end of April.

The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) has named FltPlan.com the first and only authorized electronic flight plan provider for general aviation flights departing the Dominican Republic. The new filing system is currently in place at Las Americas (MDSD), Luperon (MDPP), and Cibao International (MDST) and will be fully implemented at the country's five remaining airports by the end of April.

Alejandro Herrera, Director of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation, announced the agreement in a press conference on April 13 at the 2018 Sun 'n Fun Fly-In in Lakeland, Florida. Ken Wilson, president of FltPlan.com was on hand for the announcement and to sign the formal agreement. The partnership marks an essential move forward for IDAC in their efforts to modernize the Dominican aeronautical system. The country is hoping to facilitate tourism to the island's eight international airports and aerodromes.

For FltPlan.com, the move represents continued expansion into the Caribbean and an exciting opportunity to participate in the modernization process. "Electronic flight planning will save time, improve efficiency, and ensure that flight plans comply with Dominican filing requirements," said Ken Wilson, president of FltPlan.com. "We are excited about this partnership with IDAC and thank Jim Parker of Caribbean Flying Adventures for facilitating this venture. I believe this will serve as a template for other countries in the Caribbean, Central, and South America looking to modernize their flight planning systems."

As part of the new system, FltPlan.com will provide warnings if flight plans are non-compliant and will offer guidance on proper routing.
