GE Executive David Joyce to Receive Aviation Industry's Highest Award
The "Living Legends of Aviation" will present their prestigious "Lifetime Industry Award" to Mr. David Joyce, Vice Chair of GE and President and CEO of GE Aviation at the 15th Annual "Living Legends of Aviation Awards." Hosted by John Travolta, with Harrison Ford presenting the "Aviation Legacy Award," the awards will be held at the Beverly Hilton, on January 19th, 2018.
The honoree has spurred GE Aviation on to unparalleled levels of growth and expansion during his nine years as CEO of GE Aviation. The company is a world-leading provider of commercial and military engines and components as well as integrated digital, electric power and mechanical systems for aircraft. Joyce joined GE in 1980 as an engineer, designing and developing commercial and military engines. He moved on to succeeding leadership roles culminating in vice president and general manager of the commercial engine operation in 2003 and then President and CEO in 2008. In 2016, Joyce was named Vice Chair leading GE Aviation and additive manufacturing.
Joyce serves on the boards of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, the Aerospace Industries Association, and the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation. The Annual Living Legend of Aviation Awards are produced by Kitty Hawk Air Academy, a 501-c-3 organization, teaching children and inspiring aviation's next generation.
