The Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals (OBAP) is proud to announce a partnership with Army ROTC to provide middle school-aged youth with exposure to opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) through OBAP's ACE Academy.

The weeklong summer camp, being held July 7 - 11th at Bush Intercontinental Airport, is structured to provide exposure to the history of aviation, fundamentals of aerodynamics, air traffic control procedures, aerospace technologies and introductions to aviation careers.

"We are acting on our responsibility to prepare and train a diverse group of young adults to meet projected employment needs. By establishing this partnership with Army ROTC, OBAP is setting the groundwork to ensure that students in the Houston area will be prepared to lead the impending positions in both government and commercial sectors," said OBAP chairman, Captain James Gordon.

The US Army and Army ROTC have a continued focus on helping high school and college-aged students achieve a quality education within the STEM field, inclusive of aerospace and aviation. Students, who complete Army ROTC and graduate from a university, will become an Army Officer either on Active Duty or in the Reserve Component and earn a highly competitive salary and benefits package. The US Army awards STEM scholarships to qualified ROTC cadets.
