SouthWings, a member of the Air Care Alliance, is in need of Volunteer Pilots to provide conservation-themed flights throughout the southeastern US.
SouthWings exists to protect and restore southeast ecosystems through flight. Founded in 1996, the organization is based in Asheville, NC but with satellite offices along the Gulf coast and within the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. All of our flights are provided via our network of Volunteer Pilots, who reside in or within close proximity to our operating region of the southeastern US (MD, WV, VA, NC, SC, KY, TN, GA, FL, AL, MS, LA).
We're always on the lookout for pilots who are interested in the kind of work we do and who are interested in joining our team to help make these types of flights possible.
We created this short video that can easily be shared.
The video features Hap Endler, a former naval aviator and current SouthWings volunteer pilot for more than a decade. Hap describes in his own words what inspires him to fly conservation through aviation work, the importance of what this work means to him, and the impact of the aerial perspective.

SouthWings requires our Volunteer Pilots to:
- have at least 750 hours of PIC time
- posses at least a 3rd class medical certificate, or BasicMed equivalent
- hold at least a Private Pilot certificate
- own or have access to a standard category aircraft (factory-built LSA are allowed)
- list SouthWings as additionally insured on the aircraft policy
