UPS Foundation Awards $30K To OBAP
Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals received a $30,000 grant from The UPS Foundation, which drives global corporate citizenship and philanthropic programs for UPS (NYSE:UPS).
Chicago, IL - Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals received a $30,000 grant from The UPS Foundation, which drives global corporate citizenship and philanthropic programs for UPS (NYSE:UPS).
The grant will be allocated to award five scholarships to offset costs for college tuition within an aviation-related program or to further training for aspiring aviation professionals. To date, OBAP has awarded $4.8 million in scholarships to more than 470 diverse recipients through strengthened partnerships. Applications for the United Parcel Service scholarships targeting Aerospace Management, Aerospace Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM), Flight Dispatcher, Maintenance & Engineering and Pilot, are available on the organization's website with submissions closing June 3, 2016.
A portion of the grant will be used toward the organization's Aviation Career Education (ACE) Academy, providing middle school-aged youth with exposure to opportunities in aerospace and aviation through weeklong summer sessions. The program engages more than 1,100 youth annually. Registration, available for youth ages 14 - 18, is now open in 26 cities including Puerto Rico and St. Croix.
