Man Crashes Gate, Tries To Get Into Learjet

A man is in the hospital in Waco, Texas, for a mental evaluation after he allegedly tried to steal a Learjet at the local airport. Police issued a statement saying the man drove his car through a security gate and parked beside the aircraft about noon on Thursday. He was approached by an off-duty police officer moonlighting as an airport security guard as he tried to get into the jet. There was a struggle and bystanders helped the officer subdue the man, who was carrying a stick.

Police said the man has a history of mental illness and will be held at the hospital before he's booked for the variety of charges he faced. It's not clear whether the man has any flying experience but he was seen removing the chocks before trying to get into the aircraft.
