AVweb's search of aviation news around the world found announcements from Flying Eyes Sunglasses, Piper Aircraft, Just Aircraft, and ForeFlight. Flying Eyes Sunglasses of Austin, Texas, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $50,000 for its new line of products. Flying Eyes began when Dean Siracusa, a private pilot, could no longer stand the headaches he would get from wearing regular sunglasses under his aviator headset. After successfully developing and producing the original Flying Eyes design, Dean is back with a number of new styles with sides as thin as 1mm. Just Aircraft has taken the first step in establishing a global dealer network, having received authorization from England's Civil Aviation Authority to market SuperSTOL kits in the UK. They are seeking additional dealers in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. Most countries will require local approval by aviation authorities, but having been through the process in England, it is expected that other nations will be able to move forward more quickly.

Piper Aircraft has announced an airdate for its segment on The Discovery Channel's "How It's Made" documentary television series featuring the aircraft company. The production is scheduled to air Thursday, Dec. 17 at 9:00 p.m. EST on Discovery's Science Channel. Filming of "How It's Made" began at Piper Aircraft's factory and supporting departments the end of January of this year. ForeFlight, creator of the award-winning and most widely used flight planning and electronic flight bag app for Apple iPad and iPhone, announced the availability of ForeFlight Logbook. Logbook is seamlessly integrated into the ForeFlight app, making it easy for pilots to manually and automatically log flights, track hours, review currency, record certificates and ratings, receive electronic instructor endorsements and generate experience reports.
