AVweb's search of news in aviation turned up new aircraft sales for RedHawk Aero, a commercial drone repair-and-return-to-service from Robotic Skies, and two new STCs -- air conditioning for the Cessna 206 series, and a VG kit for Diamond aircraft.RedHawk Aero, a subsidiary of Redbird Flight Simulations, announced that Cochise College in Douglas, Arizona, has ordered six RedHawk aircraft in a move to upgrade and modernize its training fleet. Students enrolled in the upcoming fall semester will utilize the new RedHawk aircraft while training for private pilot, instrument and commercial pilot certification in Cochise College's professional pilot program.Robotic Skies has completed its first repair of a commercial drone and returned it to operational service. The maintenance work was performed at Kings Avionics, Henderson, Nevada. Kings Avionics is one of nearly 60 Robotic Skies service centers located around the world.
Air Orlando Maintenance located at Orlando Executive Airport (KORL) announced it is now installing Kelly Thermacool air conditioning systems in Cessna's 206/T206 series aircraft, including float-equipped 206s. The lightweight, all-electric air conditioning system does not rob engine horsepower and allows full conditioned air output on the ground with no operating limitations during taxi, take off or landing. Micro AeroDynamics has received FAA and EASA STC approval for the VG kit it has designed for the Diamond DA42, DA42NG and the DA42M-NG twin engine models. In flight tests, the addition of VGs to the leading edge of the wings and both sides of the vertical stabilizer reduced Vmc, provided a dramatic improvement in slow speed stability and handling, lowered stall speeds, reduced accelerate/stop distance and improved safety.
