The move allows Redbird to devote more of its resources to research and development, while continuing to use the training center as a test bed for its line of simulators. "The Tempus partnership does a number of great things for us, not the least of which is it frees up some of our critical resources," Redbird founder Jerry Gregoire told AVweb Friday via email. "They plan on operating on a much larger scale at San Marcos, giving us a larger sample size and, in the future, multiple locations, which was never on our radar."

Tempus, part of the Virginia-based Tempus Applied Solutions, specializes in flight operations, engineering and systems integration for government agencies and the private sector worldwide. At San Marcos, the company will continue to use Redbird's simulators and Redhawk airplanes along with the training curricula at San Marcos Airport, allowing "immediate access to our technology as it comes available, a great facility and a ready-made flight school," Gregoire said. "It's an ideal situation for us."
