Flight Design’s New F2 And F4

At Aero 2019 in Friedrichshafen, Germany, Flight Design unveiled its new F2 and F4 aircraft, the latter of which will be certified under CS23 as a four-seat airplane. Paul Bertorelli prepared this video report from the show.

Cool Microlight Carbon Fiber Corsair

JH Aircraft, a German company, was showing a cool ultralight Corsair at Aero 2019 this week. It's made of carbon fiber, has a three-cylinder radial engine and meets the 120 kg microlight standard. Avweb's Paul Bertorelli got a look at it and shot this show video report.

Elixir’s Molded Carbon Fiber Airplane

At Aero in Friedrichshafen, Germany, a French company called Elixir was showing a unique two-seat airplane built of molded carbon fiber using technology to build racing boats. The idea is the airplane is both cheaper to manufacture and much cheaper to maintain because it has vastly fewer parts. AVweb's Paul Bertorelli shot this video summary of the project.

Apollo 11’s Michael Collins Highlights AirVenture

Famed Apollo astronaut Michael Collins will be the featured guest at EAA AirVenture 2019s commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11s landing on the Sea of Tranquility. Collins will be joined by Joe Engle, another Apollo alumnus, but who never flew in that program. Engle did fly on the Space Shuttle and is the last living X-15 pilot. A second shuttle pilot, Charlie Precourt, will host the event, to be held on July 26 at AirVenture.

EAA Announces Year Of The Fighter At AirVenture 2019

The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) has announced that a wide array of military aircraft ranging from historic World War II warbirds to currently active fighters will be on display for the Year of the Fighter at AirVenture 2019 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Special programs and activities highlighting military aircraft will take place throughout the week.
