Video of the Week

We've seen bits and pieces of our latest "Video of the Week" around the web, but it was AVweb reader Joe Rowell who pointed us to the full version we're running today. Even if the phrase "wingsuit base-jumping" doesn't pique your interest, we think you'll enjoy the breath-taking scenery and incredible camera work in this clip from Matchstick Productions' Seven Sunny Days, posted by Vimeo user Ali.

Did someone say "backcountry flying"? It doesn't get more majestic than this video AVweb reader Alan Loehr pointed out to us recently. Sit back and enjoy several of Arizona and Utah's most breath-taking sites, seen through the canopy of a Piper Cherokee 140 and edited together into a couple of minutes by YouTube user webdaddy. A favorite plane of ours (and pretty much everyone else) is the P-51 Mustang Big Beautiful Doll, and this week she touches down for a gorgeous landing on a small grass field runway at Compton Abbas in Dorset, U.K. AVweb reader Charles Davis had just hangared his Cub when he heard a Mustang was coming in for a landing and shot this clip of Rob Davies landing the Doll on the fly. "I like it so much I put in on YouTube," Charles writes; "I hope you like it, too." No worries there, Charles. We enjoyed it quite a bit, and now the rest of AVweb can start the week with it, too.

Oh, the commentary (both serious and otherwise) we could offer with this week's "Video of the Week"! But, in the end, what could we add that isn't already said beautifully by the title of this clip - "Plane Hits Cow (With Slow Motion)"? Thanks to AVweb reader Mike Whaley for sending us the link. And let us assure you no cows were harmed in the presentation of this video - according to Florida Today, the star of this video escaped the encounter "apparently uninjured."
