Autothrottle On Daher TBM940

At Sun 'n Fun 2019, Daher Aircraft introduced a first for turboprop singles: autothrottles. The system is integrated within the TBM940's Garmin G3000 integrated flight deck, providing an additional layer of envelope protection, including automatic descent mode. The company also introduced a new automatic deicing system for the TBM910 and TBM940 models. Larry Anglisano took a look at the new features with Daher CEO Nicolas Chabbert and prepared this video summary.

Detonation Concerns Behind Superior’s Buyback Of XP-400 And XP-382 Engines

Last month, Superior grounded the XP-400 and XP-382 experimental-class engines after crankshaft breakages were believed to be set off by detonation. Approximately 150 engines were affected. At the time, the company asked those already flying the engine to immediately ground the aircraft and for those still in construction to return the engines.

GAMIspec Engines Get Cool Upgrades (Literally)

Blueprinting engines used to be-and still is-a thing in automotive hot rodding and thats a bit of what General Aviation Modifications is doing with improvements to its GAMIspec Continental engines. They'll include taperfin cylinders, needle bearing rocker arms and upgraded cooling. The engines perform better, but GAMI intends them to be more durable. The mods are also available separately for many Continental engines.

GAMI: Higher Gross Weights Approved For Bonanzas

If you own a 33- or 35-series Bonanza, you could probably use more payload and its now available from General Aviation Modifications Inc. and Tornado Alley Turbo, two Oklahoma-based mod businesses. The gross weight increases range from 180 to 300 pounds, variable with model and engine.
