Newcastle, WA–The latest edition of the Instrument Procedures Handbook (FAA-H-8083-16) is now available from ASA in print and eBook formats. This handbook supersedes the previous edition (FAA-H-8261-1A) which was last updated in 2007. Designed as a technical reference for all pilots who operate under instrument flight rules (IFR) in the national airspace system, the Instrument Procedures Handbook expands and updates information contained in the FAA-H-8083-15B, Instrument Flying Handbook, and introduces advanced information for IFR operations.

This handbook provides detailed coverage of instrument charts and procedures including IFR takeoff, departure, en route, arrival, approach, and landing. New content explores controlled flight into terrain, enhanced flight vision systems, head-up display, and synthetic and enhanced vision systems. The NextGen System is covered including ADS-B, SWIM, data and network communications systems, and a “forecast” of NextGen planned improvements. Also included are pertinent issues related to the development, limitations and utilization of airborne navigation databases in use today and for future use in an ever-modernizing national airspace system.

Softcover, 8.25″ x 10.75″, 312 pages. Also available as an eBook, eBundle, and as a combo with the Instrument Flying Handbook (FAA-H-8083-15B).
