AVweb’s search of new developments in aviation uncovered the latest test flight of CIrrus Aircraft’s jet, a first flight for Airbus’ latest military helicopter, and acquisitions announced by Continental Motors and Momentum Aviation Holdings. Cirrus announced the successful first flight of their second certification flight test aircraft, C-One (C1), in their Vision SF50 personal jet program. This achievement marks the most recent significant milestone for the program as C1 joins C0 in FAA certification activities and continues to accelerate the Vision SF50 towards entry into service. C1s first flight took place on Tuesday from Duluth International Airport. Airbus Helicopters newest lightweight military multi-role helicopter, the EC645 T2, has successfully completed its first flight. In the presence of representatives of the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr), which has ordered the first of this new helicopter type. The EC645 T2 demonstrated its capacities at the companys Donauwrth location in Bavaria.

Continental Motors Group Ltd., a subsidiary of AVIC International Holding Corporation in China, has received approval from the U.S. government and has completed its acquisition of Southern Avionics and Communications, expanding its Alabama-based operations. In the near term, CMG will continue to operate the avionics and aircraft interior business under the name Southern Avionics and Communications while the operations and employees are integrated with Continental Motors Services, Inc. Momentum Aviation Holdings, Inc. of Naples, Florida, announced it has acquired Carpenter Avionics, Inc., an award-winning, privately held aviation services company based in the Nashville area. Carpenter is an authorized FAA Repair Station that sells, installs and maintains avionics systems for general aviation aircraft, including business jets, twin turboprops and single-engine piston airplanes.
