November 19, 2002 Uniteds Attendants Could Agree To Cuts |
|
By Brenda Carol, Newswriter
United Air Lines says it's reached an agreement with its
flight attendants ... maybe. The airline announced a tentative agreement had
been reached to cut costs and hopefully avoid bankruptcy. United is not
releasing specific details, but did confirm that the deal included pay cuts.
The airline's stated goal is to reduce labor costs of flight attendants and
machinists by $5.8 billion in an attempt to avoid bankruptcy and secure a $1.8
billion federal loan guarantee. Of course, the members of the Association of
Flight Attendants have not yet ratified the deal.
