The Weekender: Pack Your Bags

0

The Weekender’s SocialFlight schedule is bound to be a tiring one, with early mornings and late nights to enjoy. The Gopher Flying Club at Crystal Airport in Minnesota will host its semi-annual club plane wash on Saturday. All are welcome to see how a flying club works — and how to do a good wash on two Cessna 172s. (The club promises that visitors will not be put to work.) EAA Chapter 48 at Moraine Airpark, just south of Dayton, Ohio, will hold its annual “Sunday Funday” with breakfast and lunch served, along with discounted avgas for those who fly in and commemorative plaques for the first 50 arrivals — so plan to get there before the 8 a.m. breakfast.

Out west, pack your bags because the weekend-long festivities are plentiful. The annual Chrome in the Dome Classic Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show will kick off Friday at the airport in Springerville, Arizona, with a hangar dance. Saturday will start with an EAA pancake breakfast and Young Eagles rally along with skydiving exhibitions. Hang out in the evening around the campfire with live music, or go out of the town. Stay the night so you can enjoy the Sunday-morning farewell breakfast. In Chino, California, the Planes of Fame Air Show will feature a Salute to Veterans Saturday and Sunday, with more than 40 historic aircraft on display or performing. Join veterans throughout the weekend for live panel discussions. Sound fun? Find out more about the week’s upcoming events on SocialFlight.
