AVweb’s weekly review of news found information about restoration of the oldest CH-47 Chinook, a video answering pilot questions on filling out the FAA medical form, Cessna’s delivery of the 100th Grand Caravan EX and an expanded warranty for Penn Yan Aero engines. Building on its experience assembling and modifying Chinook helicopters, Middletown, Del.-based Summit Aviation has helped save a piece of military history by restoring the oldest surviving CH-47A Chinook helicopter for the U.S. Army Transportation Museum at Fort Eustis, Va. The restored Chinook, aircraft 59-94984, will be unveiled April 11 at the museum, less than a year after it was delivered to Summit's facility. A new EAA video answers the most common questions about the now-required MedXPress online form for FAA airmen medical certificates, including how to save time when completing the form. The video, available free of charge through EAA's video player at www.eaavideo.org, features Dr. Greg Pinnell, a member of EAA's Aeromedical Advisory Council, which consists of EAA-member physicians who volunteer their time to assist other members and guide EAA policy on aeromedical issues.

Cessna Aircraft Company is celebrating the delivery of the 100th Cessna Grand Caravan EX. The aircraft has been supplied to Hussain Ali Rashid Almoalla for use at his aviation club in the United Arab Emirates. Mr. Almoalla, who also owns a Cessna Skylane and Cessna Stationair, is personally flying the Cessna Grand Caravan EX back to his home base in Abu Dhabi, a trip covering 9,000 nm. In news of interest to owners of piston aircraft, Bill Middlebrook, President, Penn Yan Aero, announced today that, beginning immediately, Penn Yan Aero's warranty will be 100 percent parts and labor for three years or to Lycoming's or Continental's maximum recommended time between overhaul (TBO), whichever comes first. The Penn Yan Aero overhauled engine warranty is supported worldwide and is transferable from one owner to another.
