One Killed in Houston Midair Collision
As AVweb reported, the pilot of a Cessna 150 died November 26, 2000, when his aircraft collided with a Cessna 172 west of Houston, Texas. The two people in the C172 survived unhurt, and were able to land at West Houston Airport despite a damaged right wing and landing gear, although the plane departed the runway on landing. Don Lee, 36, of Katy, Texas was the pilot of the stricken C150, which crashed onto Interstate 10 and closed the expressway temporarily. The names of the two people in the C172 were not immediately available, but they are pictured in the last two images, below. Weather at Houston's Hobby Airport at the time was 10 miles visibility with a few clouds at 5,000 feet.
