Mooney Employees Furloughed Again

10

Employees at Mooney’s Kerrville plant, furloughed on Nov. 11 and recalled in early December, are once again out of work. The Kerrville Daily Times is reporting that employees were told to “go home” today and that the company would not be giving them the two weeks of holiday pay they were promised earlier this month.

Devan Burns, who worked for Mooney in human resources, told the paper that 55 employees were discharged today. “There have been a lot of promises,” she said. “I’ve just been trying to help keep Mooney stay alive. It’s extremely frustrating.” As we mentioned earlier, Mooney was seeking additional investment. Burns acknowledged this to the Kerrville Daily Times but said she “wasn’t sure what the future held.” AVweb will have more information when it becomes available.

  1. Maybe it’s time to get this company out of Chinese hands, in order to prevent more and quite possibly irreparable damage to its reputation. These are some highly erratic moves in a company that has weathered many storms in what appears to be chronically difficult market.

  2. Howdy Larry, Porsche at one time had (I believe) the N03 version engine installed and certified for the Mooney M20L. A neighboring club towed with a PFM3200 (212HP) equipped DR400 and I really liked that engine. The TC was surrendered sometime in 2007. Current status is unknown to me.

    • So I guess it’d be a further ‘push’ to say that you don’t know that Chester A Riley (William Bendix) — a wing riveter at the Cunningham Aircraft factory — once uttered, “What a Revoltin’ Development this is?”

Say .. in the pic accompanying this article, there’s a wing riveter … maybe that’s Chester, Jr ?? (laugh)

  3. Wow. Hadn’t thought of Chester A. Riley, Life of Riley, in many years. Yea…I think I’m going to start using his phrase!

  4. And as Chester Jr walked out of the Mooney factory door for Round 2 of bankruptcy #3, he was heard to mutter …

“Goodnight Mrs Callabash … wherever you are”
