Navy Pier, Chicago, Illinois
This gorgeous photo was taken on a night flight over Lake Michigan, a half mile offshore from Navy Pier. The pilot was 2000 feet AGL in a Cessna 172. The photographer, Sharon Kaempf, snapped this look at the Chicago landmark Navy Pier and the bustling, bright lights of the city. Brings to mind the amazing poem by Carl Sandburg that begins: Chicago HOG Butcher for the World, Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat, Player with Railroads and the Nation’s Freight Handler; Stormy, husky, brawling, City of the Big Shoulders
