AVweb’s search of the world’s aviation news turned up European approval for Pratt & Whitney’s new engine, a landmark anniversary for Embraer, and new product announcements including a Bristell LSA distributor for the U.S. market and a tablet mount from MyGoFlight. Pratt & Whitney Canada’s new PW210A engine has earned certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), further clearing the way for its entry into service on AgustaWestland’s new AW169 helicopter. The PW210A engine, selected in 2010 by AgustaWestland to power the AW169 helicopter, received its first certification with Transport Canada in July 2014. The PW210A engine is a derivative of the PW210S engine powering the Sikorsky S-76D helicopter, which entered into service in December 2013. Embraer delivered the 1,100th E-Jet production aircraft during a ceremony held in the Aeromexico hangar, at the Benito Juarez International Airport, in Mexico City. The aircraft, an E190 model, is also the 200th aircraft from the E-Jet family flying in Latin America. “In the same year that we are celebrating the E-Jets’ 10th anniversary of operations, worldwide, we are immensely proud to be recognizing yet another milestone that this versatile family of aircraft has now achieved,” said Paulo Cesar Silva, president & CEO, Embraer Commercial Aviation.

Czech LSA maker BRM Aero has set up Bristell Aircraft in Pennsylvania as its North American distributor. Headed by Lou Mancuso, Bristell Aircraft has worked directly with the manufacturer to develop, customize and standardize aircraft specifically for the North American market. MyGoFlight, maker of iPad and tablet gear for pilots, announced the introduction of a Universal Cradle device holder that, when combined its brand of cockpit mounts, significantly simplifies, improves and lowers the cost of pilots and fleet operators deploying EFBs, iPads or tablets. “Our new Universal Cradle combined with a MyGoFlight mount is future proof. It will adjust to handle the smallest tablet all the way up to the largest — in or out of a case,” the company said.
