Silvercrest Engine Tests Begin In December
Snecma has announced its new Silvercrest engine, destined for super mid-sized business jets, will enter core testing in December. The French engine maker says the Silvercrest will offer numerous cost advantages over existing engines, including a 20 percent reduction in fuel consumption, 20 percent reduction in maintenance costs and also be well within Stage 4 noise limits.

The French engine maker says the Silvercrest will offer numerous cost advantages over existing engines, including a 20 percent reduction in fuel consumption, 20 percent reduction in maintenance costs and also be well within Stage 4 noise limits. The engines will also be be fitted with telemetry equipment that will send real-time performance and engine health data to a central monitoring facility. If any parameters are exceeded, the operator is immediately notified and the required replacement parts shipped to where they're needed. The engines will be offered to OEMs and will also be available as retrofits.
