Flying the Texas Hill Country
Taken at Canyon Lake Airport, Canyon Lake, Texas on 3/19/2011. Nikon D300 camera.

High-Tension Job: Hard at Work
Talk about a high-tension job! A high-voltage link crosses above the Hudson River between Buchanan and Stony Point, NY; the towers are clearly marked on the VFR sectional, and the cables cross hundreds of feet above the river. On 3/24/2011, the cables are serviced via helicopter in this shot taken from the western side of the river. Note the downwash of the helicopter visible on the surface of the river below. Technical note: minor dodging and burning.

Return to Base After the Mission
Cell phone, 3.2 MP camera. About noon when I snapped this as the F-15 was returning from a Homeland Security mission with the Civil Air Patrol.

"Mister, Don't Think I Can't Fly That Airplane."
C-130 at the Volk Field Air National Guard Base Open House, August 2010. I asked this young boy if he would pose for me in front of the airplane after he got a guided tour of the cockpit.

A Day at the Office
I shot this picture with a small Olympus Mu. That was the only camera I could whip out in a hurry while flying to take an interesting shot while at the controls. The picture has been resized from 4 MB without any alterations. While flying in formation in the Siachen glacier (Karakoram mountains, India), I saw a photo opportunity and dropped speed 'til my number two came into the frame right over the mountain pass in the background. The helicopter is flying at 17,500'. The glacier surface is at 14,000', sloping up to 18,000' at the pass. (For a sense of perspective, the width of the glacier is three miles from the ridge to the left and right. The peak in the background is at 23,000'.) The helicopter is returning from a logistics mission to a forward helipad at 18,000' MSL.

1967 Reno, Fastest of the Group
35mm. Taken on the ramp at Stead Air Force Base. No manipulations made.

Resting Up for Virginia Beach
9,500' en route to Norfolk, Virginia. Not even their chosen in-flight movie could keep them awake on this smooth flight south.

Time for Some Jet Noise!
F-15E Strike Eagle phototgraphed at the VAC Warbird airshow in Titusville, FL with first generation EOS Rebel. No editing other than a crop to center it up!

Air Fun at Altitude
Saw this contrail up with the heavies. Wish I had seen the jet making it. It looks like barrel rolls?

Sunrise Over Moreton Bay
Got airborne while the day was but a crimson promise on the horizon, then climbed together with the sun.

Ember Aloft
I took my three-year-old granddaughter Ember for her first airplane ride in my 1951 Piper Pacer PA-20.

Take-Off from 0I2
This is a snapshot from a little movie I took on take-off from Brazil/Clay County airport. I used an FPV camera.

Cherokee Sunset
Photo was not altered. Was taken 3/26/2011 at KGWB (DeKalb County Airport) in Auburn, Indiana. Camera was a Nikon D60. This is my airplane.

Full Brakes
Janus C glider on the way to land on Montricher Air Field. Image taken with a Pentax K20D camera at 1/350 sec, F 6.7, focal length 250 mm. No other modification of the original file than reduction under 1 MB.
